Job Description
Betting Shop Manager (40 hour contract )
JOB PURPOSE:
The post holder will be responsible for planning, organising, co-ordinating and directing the activities of the betting shop. You will be responsible for excellent levels of customer service, and for ensuring the profitability of the shop as a business. You will also be responsible for initiating plans for the continuing development of the business. An equally vital part of your job will be training and managing staff.
RESPONSIBLE TO: District Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
Acceptance of bets, accurate settlement and payment of winning bets in accordance with company procedure.
Payment of winnings from in-shop gaming machines.
Building customer relationships in order to create a desirable shop atmosphere and obtain customer loyalty.
Demonstrating excellent sporting knowledge
- CASH HANDLING AND BALANCING PROCEDURES
Managing amount of cash in shop in line with Company procedures.
Required to carry out banking as and when required.
Monitoring business activity, daily and weekly figures against business targets.
- SHOP PRESENTATION
To ensure that racing papers are displayed in the shop before opening.
Ensuring that the shop is safe, tidy and clean to increase comfort of customers.
Monitoring stock levels of slips and stationery in the shop.
Displaying marketing materials in order to actively promote Paddy Power and betting events
- PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY
Using own initiative to instigate shop promotions.
To assist the Marketing Department in promotional activities, designed to increase shop business and brand awareness.
Monitoring competitor activity in order to identify market share.
Regularly undertaking local promotional activity
Establishing links/ relationships with local sources of business in order to promote Paddy Power
- SHOP SECURITY
Recognising betting patterns and behaviours and taking action if required.
Monitoring and logging customer business as required.
To notify the Race Room of high staked business in order to assist in increasing shop profitability.
Maintenance of shop technical systems such as the alarm system, CCTV, safe insert, gaming machines, and so on. The jobholder will be required to report any faults to the service provider immediately.
Operating EPOS systems to maximise revenue and provide accurate management information.
- HEALTH & SAFETY
To take all possible steps to provide a safe working environment to comply with the law and with company policy.
Responsible for in-shop Health & Safety training to comply with legislation.
Responsible for implementing and managing Health & Safety in line with company procedures.
To co-operate with external Health & Safety visitors.
Regularly audit the working environment to ensure full compliance with Health and Safety standards.
- MANAGING SHOP TEAM
Managing performance of all shop staff.
Responsible, as team leader, for encouraging friendly and co-operative shop team.
Responsible for on-the-job training of shop staff.
To complete Human Resources administration as and when required.
Providing an example of excellent standards for shop staff to follow.
- ADDITIONAL DUTIES
